Mechanical engineering department of doctoral education was established with the decision taken by institute of sciences in 1993. "Mechanical Engineering" students received a master's degree in the field can apply to the program. The students who provide criteria determined by  Sciences are eligible to enroll in the program. The Program covers a period of at least 6 semesters including 2 semesters for courses and 4 semesters for thesis. In order to select the course of thesis, students should be able to pass at least 8 courses. These courses can be selected from the department of mechanical engineering as well as the other departments’ courses which will be opened in that semester. In addition, "Profession" course which assesses the student's work must be selected. If the student concludes the thesis by providing the conditions to make a successful defense of the thesis in front of a jury, would be eligible to receive a PhD in the department of mechanical engineering.
